Hermann Hirsch and Erna Schuldenfrei?

The picture shows a bride and groom. They are likely Hermann Hirsch and Erna Schuldenfrei (née Goldstein).  The information about the couple is taken from the membership records of the Israelitische Religionsgemeinde zu Leipzig (Israelite Religious Community of Leipzig).

Hermann was born on December 15, 1901, in Bobowa (in the South-East of present-day Poland which was part of Austria until 1918). Erna was born on July 16, 1911, in nearby Łopoń. The photo must have been taken in the early 1930s. They used to live at 4 Berliner Straße. On May 14, 1933, their son Heinz Adolf was born. Moritz Manfred followed on August 7, 1935. The family lived at 45 Blücher Straße in Möckern.

In early 1939, the family emigrated to Belgium. Following the beginning of World War II and the German occupation of Belgium in 1940, the Jewish couple was no longer safe here. The sources confirm that they were detained at the Mechelen transit camp. From there, the Nazis deported the Schuldenfrei family to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. Hermann’s deportation took place in 1942. In April 1943, Erna and her sons were taken to the extermination camp and were murdered there, too.
