Marion Grodzinski was born into a Jewish family on June 6, 1925, in Leipzig. She was the daughter of Friedrich Grodzinski and Hedwig (née Grimm). Her father was also born in Leipzig in 1888. Her older sister Ruth was born in 1920.
How do we know that? Nadia Vergne, granddaughter of Abram Mittelmann and owner of his photo negatives, found the family in the database of the Mémorial de la Shoah Paris. Vergne compared the photos archived there with the Mittelmann photos and found this match.

Around 1933, the family lived at 4 König-Johann-Straße (now Tshaikowskistraße) in Leipzig.
Subsequently, the Grodzinskis lived in Mannheim before they emigrated to Belgium in September 1939. When they tried to flee to Switzerland via France, they were arrested and detained in the Vénissieux camp near Lyon. From there, they were deported to the Drancy camp.
On September 2, 1942, Marion, her parents and her sister were deported from there to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp in occupied Poland and were presumably murdered there. A similar fate befell Nadja Mittelmann, who was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz just two days later.
